Materials

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup table salt
  • ¼ cup fresh rosemary (finely minced)
  • 15 drops lemon essential oil
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  • In a medium bow, mix together 1 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of table salt. Stir to combine.
1 cup baking soda, ½ cup table salt
  • To the baking soda and salt mixture, add in a 1/4 cup of fresh rosemary and 15 drops of lemon essential oil. Stir in the rosemary and essential oil until it is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
¼ cup fresh rosemary, 15 drops lemon essential oil
  • Add a 1/4 cup of water to the bowl. Stir until a paste forms. If it seems dry, add water a teaspoon at a time until it comes together.
    ¼ cup water
  • Scoop out half a tablespoon of the deodorizing mixture. Form the mixture into a ball or mound shape, making sure to compact it well. Place them on a lined tray or baking sheet. You should be able to make about 18 deodorizers.
  • Let dry for about 24 hours until they are hard. Once dry, store them in an airtight jar or container.
To use the deodorizers, simply drop one into your garbage disposer, turn the water on, then run the disposer for about 20 seconds.
