Craving a cozy cup of hot cocoa but don’t want the hassle of dirtying a bunch of dishes or dealing with a stovetop? This microwave hot cocoa recipe is here for you!In just a few minutes, you can whip up a single serving of creamy, chocolatey goodness using only 4 ingredients.
In a large microwave-safe mug, vigorously mix the cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla together until it becomes a smooth paste.
½ TBS cocoa powder, ½ TBS maple syrup, ½ tsp vanilla
Pour in only about a 1/4 cup of the milk. Stir well until the paste fully incorporates in with the milk, making sure the spoon makes contact with the bottom and sides of the mug. I like to start with just a little milk at first so I can mix without fear of splashing anything out.
1 cup milk
Slowly pour in the rest of the milk. Gently stir to combine everything.
Place the mug in the microwave and heat on high for 1 minute. Carefully stir the cocoa, then microwave it for 1 minute more.
Carefully remove the mug from the microwave (it may be hot!) and give the cocoa a taste. If it’s not warm enough, microwave it for an additional 10-15 seconds.
Top with whipped cream or marshmallows and add a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy!
